Laser Technology Supports Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

Motorcyclists accounted for 14 percent of all traffic fatalities in 2013, according to the recently released National Highway Traffic Safety Association statistics. With Motorcycle Safety Month coming to a close, Laser Technology, Inc., (LTI) would like to remind drivers of passenger vehicles to share the road with motorcyclists. At the same time, motorcyclists are encouraged to take the necessary steps to make themselves visible to drivers and to wear protective gear. The NHTSA estimates that helmets saved the lives of 1,630 riders in 2013 and that if all riders had worn helmets, an additional 715 lives could have been saved. More...

TISPOL Speeding Enforcement Marathon Issues Over 120,000 tickets in 24 hours

TISPOL, the European Traffic Police Network, held the first ever 24-hour speed enforcement marathon in early April. Speed Enforcement Campaign Launched in New England States

New England region's six states launched the first ever coordinated 'crackdown' on speeding and failure to wear seat belts in the area. Titled the "New England Drive to Save Lives" campaign, local and state police are targeting violators on Interstates 91 and 95 this week. Increase in Traffic Safety Awareness Means America's Roadways are Safer than Ever

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently reported that there was a decline in traffic fatalities in 2013. Part of the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), the NHTSA annually releases data detailing many different traffic statistics, from deaths on roadways to drunken driving incidents, resulting in death. The 2013 Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) data tracks traffic crashes within the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The NHTSA states that to be included in the data, a crash must include a motor vehicle driving on a public roadway and one or more deaths must occur within 30 days as a result of a crash. More...

Officers at the Jefferson, Ohio Police Department recently received a monetary gift that enabled them to purchase an LTI 20/20 TruCAM, a top of the line video speed enforcement equipment manufactured by Laser Technology, Inc. 2014 NLEC Participants Win In More Ways Than One

Laser Technology, Inc. (LTI) ) and IACP's National Law Enforcement Challenge (NLEC) organization joined forces leading up to the 2014 NLEC application deadline on May 1, 2014, to educate applicants about the changes to the program. LTI and NLEC representatives co-hosted three webcasts, from October 2013 to February 2014, preparing applicants for the application process. Five complete enforcement systems were gifted by LTI to departments who participated in the webcast series and the National Law Enforcement Challenge. Winners received an LTI 20/20 TruCAM, a fully integrated laser speed device and digital video camera capable of capturing high resolution images of a violator's license plate, or a TruSpeed Sxb and LaserSoft SpeedCapture app, a complete enforcement system with 7-power scope magnification. When the term traffic safety is used we don't always think about pedestrians and how they fit into this picture. Yet, dangerous driving is a very real threat to people on foot and other non-motorized vehicles. An article recently published by the Tri-State Transportation Campaign features details about the comprehensive safe streets initiative launched in Bridgeport, CT.
